2009 marked Dark Blue's first season as they had 10 episodes with an average 2.6 million viewers.

Carter Shaw (McDermott) is the head of a crack undercover team of LAPD officers who are so covert, many of their own colleagues do not even know they are involved. His team includes a recently married cop (Omari Hardwick ) who struggles with personal relationships he has developed while undercover; a shoot-from-the-hip officer (Marshall-Green) whose activities make fellow team members wonder if he has gone over to the bad side; and a callow patrolwoman (Aycox) brought in because of her excellent skill in lying and her shady past.

The show has gotten great reviews with Newsday giving it 83 out of 100. This is one of the top shows on tv right now and looks to make a run for the future. If you have not seen this show, ReelTalk highly recommends it.

The SAG Foundation is currently celebrating its 25th year. The network has ordered 10 more episodes of the cop drama starring Dylan McDermott and executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

"Dark Blue" joins another recently renewed freshman TNT series, the Jada Pinkett Smith-starring medical drama "Hawthorne." Both have performed respectably but have not become out-of-the gate hits like "The Closer."

"Dark Blue," which will return next year, will be joined by another gritty cop drama, "Southland," which will make its debut on TNT in January, after a midseason run on NBC.

The news of "Dark Blue'"s renewal arrives on the day TNT saw strong ratings for the premiere of its last new series this year, the Ray Romano-starring "Men of a Certain Age."
